Michael James Slack, 70, of Ocala, Florida passed away May 7, 2017 after losing the battle to lung cancer. Michael was born in Los Angeles, California on August 27, 1946 to James and Lucille Slack.  His family moved to Leesburg, Florida, in 1947. He graduated from Leesburg High and received a Bachelor of Science from Florida State University.  He taught a year in Tallahassee and moved to Ocala in 1976, where he taught chemistry and physics at Lake Weir High School and coached tennis, football, track, basketball, and many years of MCYFL teams.

Michael began building in Marion County and the State of Florida in 1978. He left his mark on many of the buildings and structures of Ocala, helping to make the city what it is today.   He was a hard working, dedicated, and loving man who cared about everyone around him.  He lived for his family and loved to go hunting, fishing, and anything outdoors.  His deep faith in the Lord guided his life to be one of greatness in all of the lives that he touched.

Michael is survived by his wife Cynthia Cobourn Slack of 30 years, daughter Deborah (Zachary) Childers, sons Christopher Slack, James Slack, David Slack and Samuel Slack, and extended family.  He is preceded in death by his parents and his brothers,  Ronald Schlosser and Rodney Schlosser.
