Billy Ray Eller, 73, of Lady Lake, Florida, passed away on Monday, August 3, 2026. Billy Ray was born in Wilmington, North Carolina, and was a son of the late Nellie Lybrand Hughes and the late Bobby Hughes of Leesville, SC.

Billy Ray was born with no eyesight, but that did not deter him from doing anything that he wanted to do. He was a graduate of the South Carolina School for the Deaf and Blind and attended Bob Jones University. He was very well read and kept up with current events. He operated a concessions business in a federal building in Columbia, SC and was a radio disc jockey in Arkansas for a number of years. He and his late wife Allison retired to Lady Lake, Florida. Billy Ray enjoyed reading, music, and especially enjoyed good food.

Billy Ray is survived by his aunt Shirley Carder, his uncle James Lybrand , both of Batesburg-Leesville, SC, his aunt Mary Strickland of Murrells Inlet, SC, and many cousins. He is also survived by his close friend and caregiver Sue Lucas of Florida, who spent a lot of time with Billy Ray the past few years. He was predeceased by his parents, his wife Allison, his sister Charlotte Eller Corder and her husband Teddy Corder, and his nephew Theodore Corder, Jr. He was the last surviving member of his immediate family.

Countryside Funeral Home of Anthony, Florida is assisting with his arrangements. No funeral services will be held.
