Charles Nelson Haight Sr.

Charles Nelson Haight Sr., age 91, of Silver Springs, Florida, passed away on March 26, 2026. He was born on September 25, 1934, in Middletown, New York, the son of George and Violet Haight.


He was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Jane Ann Haight.


Charles was a man of strong character. Hardworking, determined and at times, wonderfully stubborn. He opened the first Dunkin Donuts in Marion county with his wife as well as Big Bear Camp Ground with his two sisters; Maude Purdy and Olive Heffner. He had a gift for making people feel welcome, often turning strangers into friends and friends into family. He lived a full life marked by resilience, dedication and Love for those he cared for.


He leaves behind to cherish his memory his son, Charles Haight, Jr. and his daughter, Alyce Keller. He was a proud grandfather of four grandchildren and many great-grandchildren. Charles was deeply loved not only by his family but by many others whose lives he touched and who will carry his memory forward.


A Memorial service will be held 10:00 a.m. Saturday, May 2, 2026 at Countryside Funeral Home.
