Christopher Conally Evans

Christopher Conally Evans, 77, passed away July 29, 2026. In his final days Chris was cared for by Hospice at home surrounded by his loving wife, Dawn Evans, and her children, Stephanie Albright (Steve), John Gray (Ashlie}, Andy Gray (Ryann). Grandchildren, Miles and Gray Albright, Lily, Jennings, Hazel Gray and Gamble Gray.

Chris was a member of First Baptist Church of Ocala from early 60's thru 1971 while his father Dr. J. Conally Evans was pastor. Chris was a graduate of Ocala High School class of 67, Baylor University and held a Master of Divinity from Southern Baptist Theological Seminary. An award-winning feature journalist with passion for life stories that committed to community needs and interest..After leaving the newspaper career his love turned to his native grass farm in the hill country of Texas. He lived there until 2023 when his heart brought him back to Ocala.

He was preceded in death by his parents Dr. J. Conally (Naomi) Evans, his beloved son Lucas Mobley Evans, his brother Eric Evans and previous wife Jo Bankhead. Chris is survived by sister Melanie Evans Summey (Jeff) and their children Lance Summey, Melissa Summey (David) Crowe. Melanie's grandchildren Wade Summey and Lanie Beth Crowe. Chris is also survived by JoAnn Mobley Brant, the mother of Lucas.
