Cornelia “Connie” Vaughan Melin peacefully entered heaven on January 7, 2023.  Connie was born on October 13, 1932, in Defuniak Springs, FL.  As a child she and her sisters, Eleanor Fairchild and Bobby Thornton grew up along the West Florida, Alabama, Mississippi, and Texas Gulf Coast, and briefly in Los Angeles, as her family followed her father, as he worked the shipyards during WWII.  `

Her mother eventually settled in Dunnellon where Connie graduated from Dunnellon High School.  Connie married Paul Melin after a very brief courtship on April 13, 1952.  Together they raised five sons, numerous grandchildren.

She worked as a bookkeeper until she was 85 years old and then a little longer for some.  She was also active in the First Baptist Church of Fort McCoy, where she loved working with the youth groups.  She also enjoyed visiting with friends and family, gardening, animals, and traveling to Texas and Wyoming.

She is preceded in death by her husband Paul W. Melin Sr.; mother and stepfather, Sara and Lee King; and father, Robert Vaughan.

She is survived by her sisters; Eleanor Fairchild (Ray) and Bobby Thornton (Gerald)sons; Paul Wylie Jr., John (Kathy), James, Karl (Michele), and Andy (Laura); 12 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren, and 8 great-great-grandchildren.

Services will be held at First Baptist Church of Ft. McCoy, 11350 NE East Highway 316, Ft McCoy, FL 32134 at 11:00AM on Saturday, January 14, 2023.  In lieu of flowers the family asks that donations be made to First Baptist Church of Ft. McCoy Youth.
