Douglas William Farnsworth

Douglas William Farnsworth, age 51, of Citrus Springs, Florida, passed away on July 16 , 2025. He was born on January 16, 1974, in Rochester, New York , a son of Douglas and Shirley Farnsworth.

He is preceded in death by his father and brother.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory; son, Brandon Farnsworth; daughter, Katelyne Farnsworth (Eric Dearden); sisters, Scherry Lee Dixon (Edmond), Sharon Ann Grzeskowiak (Christopher), Scheila Farnsworth Watson (Phillip); many nieces and nephews; and his very best friend of 26 years, Joe Nelson (Karen) as well as his dear friend, Elinor Pierce.

He began driving truck and obtained his CDL at the age of 23 and spent 28 years driving big rigs from coast to coast and then locally within Florida in his final years, as well as being a member of the Teamsters. At TDC he was considered a “legend” having logged over three million miles in his lifetime.

During this time, he also obtained his Captain’s license and became an avid fisherman and boat charter captain of his boat, “Big Riggin” on Lake Ontario.

He also was an avid hunter and sportsman. Additionally, he would build and fly model planes in his spare time as well as tinker on his trucks and any other engine that needed to be repaired/fixed. He was a natural mechanic.

Moreover, Doug was a man of God and became a preacher within the last few years of his life. He spent the last years serving and preaching the word to all who would listen and was adamant in living his life within the Christian way in hopes all who he loved would follow in this path.

Doug will be missed for his humor, dedication, loyalty, zest for life and most of all his ability to love with all his soul.

We loved him fiercely…

Doug’s passing was sudden and unexpected. Given this, Katelyne-his daughter, and sister - Scheila, would be grateful if you would feel it in your heart to make a donation to the American Heart Association to assist in the research of heart disease and death in lieu of flowers.

Services will be held on Thursday, July 24 at 2pm at House of Power Church located at 7330 N. Dawson Dr, Hernando, FL. A reception will follow catered and donated by Chic-Fil-A and the ladies of the church.
