Frank Joseph Zito, age 74, of Salt Springs, Florida, passed away unexpectedly on December 28, 2025. He was born to Frank and Marie Zito on January 19, 1951 in Utica, New York.
He is preceded by; Father, Frank Zito; Mother, Marie Zito; and sister, Kathleen Zito.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; wife, Sally Bradbury-Zito, son; Paul Zito, sister; Joanne MacAnn, niece; Danielle Hampton; and too many friends and "framily" to list.
Frank held an advanced degree from Cornell University in Fish and Wildlife Biology. He was employed for a time as caretaker at various State Parks in upstate New York and then as Supervisor with a Conservation Corps, working alongside the youths as they cleared paths and built walkways for several Parks. Later he was the leader of a crew of men and women working on the Hudson river doing Environmental Impact Studies for Texas Instruments.
Eventually he returned to his hometown and worked as a Financial Planner with the John Hancock Company.
Although Frank was an avid hunter, he had great empathy for orphaned and injured wildlife. He became a member of the New York State Wildlife Rehabilitation Council and worked along side his wife, a licensed wildlife rehabilitator, tending to these animals in an effort to return them to the wild.
In 1984 Frank married his soulmate, Sally. They lived for a time on a small farm in the Adirondack Mountains of New York State and later moved to various regions of Montana.
They finally settled down on a ranch in eastern Montana where they raised exotic fiber animals, remaining there for many years. Eventually they found their way to the little community of Salt Springs, Florida. For a time they tried the life of being "snowbirds", spending summer and fall in the mountains of eastern Kentucky, but they missed the wonderful neighborhood on the "Key", and their loving Church family, so the move to Salt Springs became permanent. For the past few years Frank and his wife enjoyed being active in the Food Pantry, one of the Church's weekly ministries.
He and Sally had many adventures during their marriage of 41 years, but also endured several tragedies which simply drew them closer to God and to each other. Frank flourished in his faith through conversations and prayer with good friend and retired pastor, James Jones of Kentucky, and by the always Biblical and insightful teachings of his Pastor, Eric Gervais, who also recently went home to be with the Lord.
Frank's passions were for God, his wife, and outdoor activities, primarily in these last years, fishing and boating.
He had a smile few can forget, a story for anyone willing to listen, he possessed a generous spirit, a big heart for all, and he never met a stranger!
