Gaetano Thomas "Tom" DeLiso, age 86, of Dunnellon, Florida passed away on June 25, 2023. He was born on May 15, 1937 in Brooklyn, New York, a son to the late Louis and Antionette (Laurito) DeLiso. In addition to his parents he was also preceded in death by his wife Edna in 2012. He was the youngest and last to leave this earth of three brothers, and one sister. He leaves behind to cherish his memory two sons, Thomas "Tommy" DeLiso, Paul (Carol) DeLiso, one daughter Donna (Dave) Miller, six grandchildren and five great grandchildren. He was a hard worker at an early age when he had to quit school to contribute to his family’s household expenses in a restaurant helping in the kitchen. It was there that he found his passion for cooking. During his marriage he held various types of jobs including a school bus driver in Queens NY during the day and a school janitor in the evening for 20+years. Upon moving to Dunnellon, Florida in 1984 he rediscovered his passion for cooking and worked as a chef in an Italian restaurant owned by a family member. His last 14 years before he retired were spent working at Munroe Regional Medical Center (now Advent Health) in the catering department where he made many friends and loved preparing and serving food for employees and various events at the hospital. He truly loved serving others throughout his life and will always be remembered as a kind, caring individual and a friend to anyone he met! A visitation has been scheduled for Friday August 4, 2023 at 6:15 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church. A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Saturday August 5, 2023 at 10:00 also at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church with burial to follow in Fero Memorial Gardens, Beverly Hills, Florida.
