Ocala - Gary Allan Pavelack, 83, went to his heavenly home on Wednesday, November 10, 2021. He was born November 7, 1938 in Hartford, CT. Gary was a member of Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala FL.
A 1956 Graduate of Manchester High School, Gary headed west after graduation to Travis Air Force Base where he served as a surgical scrub tech in the United States Air Force. It was also where he cornered a pretty little blonde from Wisconsin, who soon became his bride and the love of his life. They moved back to the east coast where he studied tool and die at Howell Chenny Tech School, and later the Lee Institute Real Estate School; although he found his true passion in retail. Gary’s leadership skills were highlighted during his long career in retail management, which also provided for many moves from New England to the Midwest. Eventually, Gary and Marge found their way to Ocala where they settled down and enjoyed being retired.
He was a loving husband, father and friend to many. Gary loved his faithful companion, a greyhound rescue – Dior. His favorite part of his day was getting on his scooter and touring the neighborhood, where they had many two and four legged friends. Never stopping for too long to make sure he could talk to many. He touched many lives, all who will remember him fondly. His expansive presence, keen intellect and dry sense of humor will be greatly missed.
He is preceded in death by his wife of 57 years, Marjorie Pavelack; his parents Joseph “Red” Pavelack and Rose (DiFazio) Pavelack Derry; step-sister, Judy McCorrison. He is survived by his daughters Janet Pavelack, Leslie Stroud (Paul), Sheri-Lyn Schubert, Mary Gallo (Vincent); half-brother, Vincent Pavelack (Carol) and step-brother, William Derry (Margo); thirteen grandchildren and seven great-grandchildren.
Memorial mass will be at 1 p.m. on Tuesday, November 16, 2021 at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church, Ocala, FL with Father Patrick Sheedy officiating.
