George Shepard

Ocklawaha –

George Emery Shepard, 84, passed away peacefully at home, November 14, 2015. Born October 31, 1931 in Euclid, Ohio, to Clair Freleigh Shepard and Grace Dorothy Rinzel Shepard, he moved here from Euclid over 65 years ago.  He worked for twenty-five years for Skippers Office Supply in the Sales and Purchasing Department. George has been a long time member of the Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church. He leaves behind his beloved wife of 59 years, Jerrie Marie Griggs Shepard; sons, Emery Shepard (Barbara), Robert B. Shepard (Jeannie); brothers, Larry Shepard (Judy),  Pete Shepard (Marti); six grandchildren; Jeremy (Nicole), Josh (Audri), Sammy, Aimee, Daniel, JeannieMarie, and one great-grandchild, Robert Lee Shepard.

George was a member of the Masonic Blue lodge, Scottish Rite and the Ocala Shrine Club.

George spent over 60 years providing volunteer leadership to both youth and adults as a member of the Boy Scouts of America and will be remembered as a master of Scoutcraft and camping gadgets. He provided service at the unit, district and council level. George Shepard holds many Scouting honors including the “District Award of Merit” and the “Silver Beaver”.

There will be a memorial service Sunday November 22nd at 2:00 PM in the sanctuary of Ocklawaha Bridge Baptist Church (14100 FL-40, Silver Springs, FL 34488). Scouting uniforms are appropriate and a cracker barrel will be held after the service.
