Gerald Deo “Jerry” Carpenter

March 23, 1948 – June 8, 2025

Gerald Deo Carpenter, affectionately known as Jerry, passed away peacefully on June 8, 2025, surrounded by the love of his family. A proud Vietnam veteran, Jerry served his country with honor as a drill sergeant in the U.S. Army and an Airborne Ranger.

During his distinguished service, Jerry was awarded the National Defense Service Medal, Vietnam Campaign Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Combat Infantry Badge, Parachutist Badge, and the Army Achievement Medal with two Oak Leaf Clusters. Upon completion of his military service, Jerry received an Honorable Discharge, a testament to his dedication, bravery, and sacrifice for his country.

Jerry was a man of grit, integrity, and heart. He leaves behind two sons, two daughters, grandchildren, great-grandchildren, his brother, and countless others whose lives he touched with his wisdom, strength, and unwavering loyalty.

He shared a powerful bond with his service dog, Harley, and together they rode thousands of miles on his Harley-Davidson. The open road was Jerry’s sanctuary, and the freedom he found in riding became a symbol of his resilient spirit.

His larger-than-life presence, his infectious laugh, and his deep love for family will never be forgotten. Whether sharing a story, offering advice, or simply sitting in silence with those who needed him—Jerry was a constant. A true family man, a patriot, and a warrior.

Jerry is now riding on two wheels down Heaven’s golden highway, reunited with fellow veterans and loved ones gone before him.

A celebration of Jerry’s life will be held on Tuesday, June 17, 2025. Family and friends will gather at Countryside Funeral Home in Ocala, Florida at 9:30AM. At 9:45AM the Patriot Guard Riders will escort the procession to Bushnell National Cemetery, where a military send-off service will begin at 11:00 AM.
