Harlie C. Perryman Jr., age 86, passed away peacefully, leaving behind a legacy so immense, no words can truly capture its impact. A man loved beyond measure, Harlie was the cornerstone of his family, the light in every room, and the kind of soul the world only gets once.

Born in 1939, Harlie was many things: a veteran, an entertainer, an inventor, a father, a friend - but above all, he was ours. Serving honorably in the United States Air Force as a weapons mechanic stationed in Korea, Harlie brought his precision, humor, and work ethic to every endeavor he touched. Whether he was building machines, fixing engines, or making people laugh until they cried, Harlie had a rare magic that made you feel instantly like family. He met the love of his life, Myra Ramona McDonald - affectionately known as Titi — in high school. They married on December 2, 1957, and shared 62 extraordinary years together until her passing in 2020. Their bond was timeless. In his final letter to the family, Harlie said he was going to find his Titi — a love story that continues beyond this world.Together, they raised three children who adored him endlessly: Rhonda (Doobie), Harlie I|I (Perry), and Pamela (Pami). To them and his entire family, he was not just a father but a superhero — a man who could fix, create, and do anything.Harlie was a rockstar in every sense. In high school, he started Ocala's very first rock band, The Rockin' 4, and continued to play music throughout his life. His most notable band, Sugar Bear, left a lasting impression - you can still find his album on Amazon. A devoted Elvis fan and spirited impersonator, he loved to perform and entertain, bringing joy wherever he went.In 1975, Harlie founded his axle business, which would eventually become Perryman Wheel & Axle, a partnership with his son Perry. He worked tirelessly and passionately— right up to the end — always with a tool in one hand and a joke in the other.Tuesday and Friday nights were sacred - lovingly dubbed "the asshole meetings."Family and friends would gather at his house to laugh, talk politics, gossip, and most importantly, love one another in the way only Harlie could inspire. These nights were more than tradition; they were life-giving.He loved anything with wheels and a motor —NASCAR, motocross, classic cars — and poured the same love into his animals as he did into his people. If you were lucky enough to know Harlie, you know that he gave everything he had, always.Harlie leaves behind a lifetime of music, invention, laughter, and unwavering love. The void he leaves is immeasurable. But his spirit is in every joke we tell, every song we hear, every Tuesday and Friday night we gather and most of all, it's in the unshakable bond of the family he built. He was, without question, irreplaceable.
Rest easy Shorty, go find your Titi. We'll keep the music playing down here.
