James "Jim" Earl English, born December 23, 1944, passed away peacefully on March 26, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of love, service, and unforgettable warmth.
He is also lovingly remembered by his son, David and David's husband, Brett, along with his beloved grandchildren, Alex and Riley, who brought him immense pride and joy.
He is further survived by his wife Sherry English; Sherry's daughter, Shanna, her husband, Scott, and their son, Nicholas, all of whom were an important and treasured part of his extended family.
A proud veteran of the United States Navy, Jim served his country with honor. Following his military service he continued his commitment to public service as an officer with the Jacksonville Sheriff's Office, where he built a respected career.
Outside of his service, he was a man who truly embraced life. He loved fishing, playing cars, and spending time with friends. Known for his big personality and welcoming spirit, he never me a stranger- only friends he hadn't made yet. His laughter, stories, and presence lit up every room he entered.
He was deeply loved and adored by his community and his absence will be felt by all who had the privilege of knowing him.
His life was one well lived- full of connection, joy and meaningful relationships- and his memory will forever remain in the hearts of his family and friends.
Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
