James "Jim" Shelton

James (Jim) William Shelton III, 58 of Ocala, Florida passed away on July 28, 2021 after a lengthy illness.

Jim was born on January 10, 1963 to Mary R. Shelton and James William (Bill) Shelton, Jr. in Orlando, Florida. Jim attended Marion County Schools graduating from Vanguard High School in 1981. Jim began working for Publix Super Market in 1979 as a customer associate (bag boy). This first job kicked off a 41 year career with Publix, the last 15 years as a Publix Store Manager. Jim was a deeply dedicated employee believing in the Publix focus of customer service and high standards. He also represented Publix in the community through responsible citizenship serving in various organizations such as United Way. Jim also enjoyed sponsoring church events and giving to Interfaith Emergency Services. Jim’s hobbies included fishing, playing golf, and watching NASCAR. Jim is preceded in death by his parents J.W. and Mary Shelton and is survived by his wife of 31 years, Lynne Shelton and sister Mary Jo Shelton.

A Memorial Service will be held August 7, 2021 at 11:30 a.m. at First Christian Church, Ocala, Florida with the Rev. Lori Lynn Wachter officiating. In lieu of flowers donations can be made to First Christian Church, 1908 S.E. Fort King St., Ocala, FL 34471 or online at and/or donate blood to One Blood to help others who are in need of blood.
