Janet W Mackey

Janet W. Mackey, age 77, of Ocala, Florida, went to be with the Lord on June 26, 2023.  She was born on May 5, 1946, in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania, a daughter to the late Elmer Sieffert and Frances Mae (Tinsley) Waizenhofer.  In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her loving husband of 51 years, Dennis Mackey and two sisters, Linda Kraves and Nancy Jones.  Jan graduated from Greensburg Salem Senior High School in 1964 after which she attended college in Miami, Florida, and finally settled in Ocala in 1969.  She retired from the Marion County school system in 2011.  Jan taught her children so much about good music, great classic movies, sports and being a courteous human being.  She loved planning for her "Sista" reunions, shopping and eating out, watching cooking shows, baking Christmas cookies and giving tins of them to her family, and she loved the Steelers.  She will be remembered as being so very thoughtful and loving her family more than anything.  Survivors include her daughter Karen Jones (Mark), son Jeff Mackey (Kerri), grandson Denny Mackey, sisters Diane Crawford (Clancy), Susan Henry and Jeanie Neuschaefer (Elmar "Karl").  A graveside service will be held at 10:00 a.m. on Saturday, July 1, 2023, at Greenwood Cemetary in Ocala.  Family and friends are invited to attend.  Arrangements under the care of Countryside Funeral Home.
