Jeffrey Snell “Poppop”
It is with great sadness that the family of Jeff announce his passing to be with our LORD in Heaven March 12, 2023.
Born in Bayonne, NJ, February 11, 1953 the son of Raymond and Dolores (Aponte) Snell. He is predeceased by his Mother, Father and Brother Chris, Uncle Ed and Uncle Harald.
Jeff loved hockey and started to play at a very young age on Packanack Lake in New Jersey. He would travel, whenever he was able, on the train into NYC to watch the NY Rangers play. He went on to the University of Bridgeport, Connecticut to play hockey and studied graphic design.
After college he moved to the Pocono mountains of PA. He was a contractor for many years. He then worked at Johnson Wax Professional in East Stroudsburg, Pa. for 14 years. After moving to Florida he worked in the Walmart electronics department until his retirement.
Aside from his love of playing hockey whenever he had the chance trains consumed his interest traveling on true locomotives. Learning all he could and riding Steam trains never got old. With the love of his life, along side him for 40 years they enjoyed the outdoors, specifically birds, all of nature and gardening.Traveling to the Grand Canyon was a high light for him. He loved dogs! His latest best furry friend, his son's dog named “Rubadog” in North Carolina. He loved teaching the boys, repairing instead of buying, getting outside to cut firewood for the cold winters, building projects, and refurbishing grandmothers 1970 Nova, even though their interests were mostly on other things!
His grandchildren enjoyed sitting on “Poppop’s" lap to watch the Steam locomotives on the computer, learning to pay attention to the stars, planets and all of space. Nevertheless they taught him something too, living in this tech crazy world we live in today.
Jeff will be remembered by so many from New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Colorado, North Carolina and Florida,
A Strong willed gentleman, devoted son, husband, father, grandfather and friend. His dry sense of humor, jokes, and ability to create a nickname for anyone in an instant would always lead to immediate laughter. He truly was "a piece of Gods work" Rest in Peace and enjoy looking down on so many that loved you.
Jeff is survived by his wife Brenda, sons Ryan of NC, and Brad of Colorado, grandsons Jaden and Finnegan and cousin Scott and family in PA.
There will be a private celebration of life at a later date with family & friends in North Carolina.
