John Hamilton

It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of John J. Hamilton, 76, of Ocala, FL, entered eternal life on October 31, 2025, at his home. Born in Algona, Iowa, onFebruary 23, 1949, John was the cherished son of Charles and Leonilla (Greteman). 

He spent his formative years in Algona, Iowa, later graduating from Briar Cliff University in Sioux City. John's professional journey was marked by a successful career in sales, after which he found his calling in teaching English as a second language while residing in China. In his personal life, John was united in marriage to CiCi, a bond that brought him immense joy and fulfillment. His devotion to his Catholic faith was unwavering, and it was a cornerstone of his life.

John had a passion for attending Notre Dame games, cherished summers in Okoboji, IA, and enjoyed hunting.

He leaves behind his beloved wife CiCi, his children Mark and Ashley Hamilton of Sioux City, IA, Mary Lee and Mike Simoni of Lawton, IA, Jonathan and Amber Keselring and Crystal Franklin, of Sioux City, IA. He is also survived by his stepdaughter Summer and Jr Zhang , of Portland, OR, his sister Mary Treinen of Wichita, KS, brother-in-law James Powell of South Bend, IN, Cousin Charlie Lex of Woodward, IA, seventeen grandchildren, and several nieces and nephews.

John was preceded in death by his parents and his sister, Anne Hamilton-Powell.
