Kenneth Herbert Purvis

Jan 1, 1937 — Sep 11, 2026

Kenneth Herbert Purvis, age 90, of Fort McCoy, Florida, passed away on September 11, 2026. He was born on January 1, 1937 in Marion, Ohio, a son of Herbert and Kathryn Purvis.

He was preceded in death by his daughter, Cindy Purvis.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory: his beloved wife of 66 years, Doris Purvis; his sons, Ken Jr. Purvis (Kathy), Bob Purvis, and Tyler Purvis (Jessica); his daughter, Jodi Purvis; his special daughter Felicia; 5 grandchildren; and 7 great-grandchildren.

Known affectionally as Kenny, he spent more than 40 years farming in Ohio, beginning in his teenage years. In 1992, Kenny and Doris moved to Florida, where he went to work for Rinker Building Materials as a Maintenance Mechanic and remained until his retirement.

Kenny was a man of great faith, strong character, and remarkable strength and endurance. He was always on the go and happiest outdoors, especially when he could be found tinkering with something in his shop. He had a lifelong love of drag racing and enjoyed both racing and spending time around the track. He was a devoted Ohio State fan and rarely missed the chance to watch a game. Kenny also loved traveling in his motor home, exploring new places along the way. St. Augustine, Florida, held a special place in his heart.

He was a member of Oak Griner Baptist Church and a member of Racers for Christ.

Above all else, Kenny loved his family. He and Doris shared a wonderful marriage that spanned 66 years, building a life together that was admired by many. Visits from his children brought him great joy and laughter, and the time he spent surrounded by those he loved meant more to him than anything. His faith, strength, humor, and love for his family will remain a lasting part of the lives of those who knew and loved him.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, September 17, 2026 at 6:30 P.M. at Countryside Funeral Home.
