Lana Sue Ponder

Lana Sue (Mixson) Ponder, age 53, of Ocala, Florida, passed away on February 13, 2024. She was born on March 18, 1970 in Ocala, Florida a daughter to Aurice "Linnie" and Lanette (Smith) Mixson.  In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother Elton Linnie "Bo Bo" Mixson.  Lana leaves behind her loving husband of twenty years Keith Ponder, a son Alex Wesley (Kimberly) Heckman, two daughters Lindsay (Cameron) Ponder- Curry, and Breanna (Erik) Ponder- Hindman, as well as four grandchildren, Carson, Greyson, Hanson, and Christopher and several loving cousins. Lana loved our Lord and accepted Jesus as her savior.

Lana was employed by Marion County Fire Rescue for many years.  She was very dedicated and loved making a difference in our community.  Lana bravely fought cancer for a year and always put her family before herself regardless of the pain she experienced. 

Lana loved to be around family and friends. She always looked forward to summer boating trips and spending time in her pool.  Her unconditional love for her dogs, Khloe and Josie was a bond like no other. Lana had many talents, including baking cakes, organizing, decorating, making jewelry and was very creative in restoring furniture and household items. Lana was always the first to decorate her home for all the holidays. She really loved using her talents, especially for others. Lana touched many lives with her generosity and passion for life.

Family and friends are invited to attend a Celebration of Life at Double S Red Barn located at 6736 NE 36th Ave Road Ocala FL on Sunday, March 17, 2024 from 1:00 pm – 4:00 pm. Those who so desire may make a contribution to Interfaith Emergency Services in her memory.
