Marieluise H Hauge

Jun 1, 1938 — Jul 1, 2026

On July 1, 2026, Marieluise H. Hauge entered the presence of her Savior, surrounded by her family.

She was born in Wyk auf Fohr, Germany, on June 1, 1938. She grew up on this small island in the North Sea, surviving the hardships of the war with her mother. In 1957, she fulfilled her dream to come to America, being sponsored by her aunt and uncle in Manly, Iowa. She entered “beauty school” as it was called back then and earned her beautician’s license. In 1959, a mutual friend introduced her to a young man who had recently returned from Germany where he served in the US Army. It was a match made in heaven!

Marieluise and Gary were married in 1960 and were blessed with 63 wonderful years together. In 1966, they moved to Florida and raised their three children in the same house she lived in until her passing. For most of her life she was a lifelong homemaker, creating the warm, cozy place so precious to all her loved ones. She was a long-time member of St. Matthew’s Lutheran Church where she particularly enjoyed many years of hosting coffee hour and encouraging others with her gifts of hospitality and kindness.

Marieluise enjoyed gardening, watching Hallmark movies, preparing and hosting meals, (particularly delighting in her annual Christmas Eve traditions, beloved by her entire family), decorating her home and making sure everything looked “just perfect” and especially, spending time with her cherished family. She and Gary were blessed to enjoy several trips to Germany, and once to Norway and Alaska.

She was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Gary, and her parents, Georg and Berta Henningsen. She leaves behind to cherish her memory, her children Helga (Russell) Park, Heidi (Stephen) Costello and Eric (Kristin) Hauge, her grandchildren Justin (Laura) Park, Russell (Marisela) Park, Leslie (Thanasi) Athanason, Ryan (Sierra) Park, Susanna (Joshua) Lowe, Stephen (Danielle) Costello, Kelly (Marshall) Costello and Brandon (Adiya) Hauge, her great grandchildren Lucas, Rust, Bodhi, Thoren and Madelyn Park, Rocky Athanason, Hansyn and Adalee Hauge, her sister, Helga (Reinhardt) Henningsen, her brother, Georg Henningsen and several beloved nieces and nephews.

A celebration of life will be held on Sunday afternoon at 3:00 on July 12 at Good Shepherd Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorial donations be made to Redeemer Christian School.

Marieluise will be greatly missed but never forgotten.

Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
