Mary Rosier

October 10, 1925 — February 16, 2023

Gainesville

Mary Catherine Francis Myers Rosier, who was born Oct. 10, 1925, passed away on Feb. 16, 2023 at the E.T. York
Haven Hospice in Gainesville, Fla. She was predeceased by her loving husband Nelson Eugene Rosier, who
taught Electrical Engineering at UF, and her sister Joyce Horn. She is survived by her brother William W. Myers,
children Nell M. Lacey, Jill S. Rosier, and Mark E. Rosier, grandchildren Paul Lacey, Kathleen Leavitt, Natalie
Naumu, Emma Lacey, Max Rosier, and Dean Rosier, and great-grandchildren Floyd Leavitt, Oliver Leavitt, Ember
Naumu and Aurora Naumu.
Mary completed her BA and master’s degree in education at UF. She worked in law offices as a court reporter,
taught machine shorthand at Santa Fe Community College, and served as a docent at Morningside Nature
Center.
Mary had a passion for music, which she shared at the First Presbyterian Church, Al’s Place, and other venues.
She also loved the outdoors and equestrian activities, which was demonstrated by her directing Girl Scout horse
camps and volunteering at the Friends of Nature Parks. Mary was recognized by the City of Gainesville by
receiving the Nature Centers Commission Amy Carpus Lifetime Achievement Award in March 2022. She was
always quick with a smile and words of encouragement and will be greatly missed by friends and family.
