Michael Wayne Eatmon, age 77, of Ocala, Florida, peacefully went home to be with the Lord on February 22, 2026. He was born on November 20, 1948, in Ocala, Florida, the youngest son of George Sr. and Inez Eatmon.
Michael, known lovingly as Mike, graduated from Ocala High School in 1966. He grew up in the furniture business, where he built a lifelong career rooted in hard work and dedication. He met the love of his life in the eighth grade—his beloved wife of 46 years, Carol. Together, they successfully owned and operated their own furniture store for over 20 years. He continued his passion for the industry as a trusted and successful salesman for the next 31 years after closing their store, retiring near his 75th birthday.
In his younger years, Mike enjoyed DJing parties and reunions, always finding joy in bringing people together. He loved duck hunting, fishing, going to the movies, family vacations, the beach, and—most of all—dinners with friends and family. A devoted and loyal fan of the University of Florida, Mike proudly cheered on the Gators (Go Gators!) and loved both football and basketball, never missing an opportunity to attend a game or talk about it.
Mike was a devout Christian who faithfully served alongside his wife as Youth Counselors at St. Paul’s UMC for over eight years. He found great joy in Bible studies and teaching the youth about the Lord. He was also proud to have helped found the 88.1 Joy radio station, sharing faith and encouragement with the community. Known for his sense of humor, Mike never missed a chance to tell a classic “dad joke” or make someone laugh and smile.
Above all else, he loved God, his wife, his children, his grandchildren, his family, and his closest friends.
He will be deeply missed and lovingly remembered by all who knew him.
He was preceded in death by his parents, George Sr. and Inez Eatmon; his cherished, loving wife, Carol (Hendricks) Eatmon; and his brother, David Eatmon Sr.
He leaves behind, to cherish his memory, his loving children: son, Trevor Eatmon (Kim); daughters, Lesley Weaver (Aaron) and Rayna Pounds (Mike); his brothers, George Eatmon, Jr. (Janice) and Steve Eatmon; and his sister, Barbara Zwickel (Joan). His greatest joy in life was being a Papa to his five grandchildren, Devin Eatmon, Erin Davis (Connor), McKenzie Wiley (Ian), Rayleigh Pounds, and Elikai Pounds; and his great-grandchildren, Emilia Wiley and Lainey Jane Wiley.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 28, 2026, at 12:00 noon at St. Paul’s United Methodist Church, 800 SE 41st Ave, Ocala, FL 34471. A viewing will take place one hour prior to the service (11:00 a.m.), and a reception will follow. All are welcome.
Please send any correspondence for the family to 37 Almond Rd., Ocala, FL 34472.
Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
