Nellina Jane Queen Nowack, age 92, of Ocala, Florida, passed away peacefully on December 21, 2025. She was born on August 30, 1933, to Don Ferrell and Roda Jeffery.
Nellina retired from the phone company, where she worked as an office clerk. Even after retirement, her desire to serve others never faded. She went on to volunteer at Monroe Regional Medical Center for more than 20 years, where she offered her time, compassion, and kindness to countless patients, families, and staff. Helping others was simply part of who she was.
Above all else, Nellina—affectionately called Nanny—was devoted to her family. She found her greatest joy in caring for those she loved and was always ready to help anyone in need. Whether offering a listening ear, a helping hand, or quiet support, she gave selflessly and without hesitation. Her home and her heart were always open, and her love was felt deeply by her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren.
She was known for her quiet strength, gentle spirit, and generous heart. She cherished time spent with her family and took great pride in each generation, leaving behind a legacy of love, compassion, and service to others that will continue to be carried on by those she leaves behind.
She was preceded in death by her parents and her husbands, William “Bill” Queen and Donald Nowack.
She is survived by her son, Douglas J. Queen (Bonnie); daughters, Cathy Howard (late husband Edward) and Julie Neeham (Mike); grandchildren, Will Queen (Amber), Amanda Miller (Eric), and Joshua Howard (Tiffany); and five great-grandchildren, Weston, Kamdyn, Alex, Abby, and Dylan.
A funeral service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on Monday, December 29, 2025, at Countryside Funeral Home. Visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Interment will follow at Anthony Cemetery.
Nellina will be remembered for her unwavering love, servant’s heart, and the countless lives she touched through her quiet acts of kindness. Though she will be deeply missed, her love and legacy will live on forever in the hearts of her family."
