Pamela S Sorton

Jul 9, 1948 — Aug 23, 2026

Pamela S. Sorton passed away peacefully on August 23, 2026, leaving behind a legacy of unconditional love, quiet strength, and a warmth that touched every life she reached.

Born in Hialeah, Florida, Pam’s grit and hands-on spirit were woven into her character from a young age. Growing up, she spent precious time alongside her father building commercial fishing traps down in the Keys—a foundational period that grounded her in the value of hard work, family, and the simple beauty of South Florida's waters.

Pam carried that strong work ethic throughout her life. She took great pride in running and managing her family’s business, the Orange Lake Fishing Camp, which was owned by her parents. She was also a beloved, familiar face behind the bar at the BackPorch Lounge—a staple country bar and restaurant throughout the 1980s and 1990s—where her authentic care and quick wit earned her the deep respect of lifelong friends. Pam’s open-hearted nature meant her door was always open; it was often said that she didn't just raise her own, she helped raise everyone’s kids, offering guidance and tenderness to every child who crossed her path.

Above all, Pam lived her life entirely for her daughter, Amanda. Being a mother was not just a role for Pam—it was her life’s single greatest devotion. Every choice she made, every sacrifice, and every hard hour worked was centered around giving Amanda the absolute best life possible. That fierce, protective love expanded even further with the immense joy of becoming a grandmother to Aaliyah and Caleb, a role she cherished deeply alongside being a devoted aunt and steadfast friend.

Pamela was preceded in death by her beloved parents, Jenny and Jerome McEwen, as well as cherished aunts, uncles, cousins, and dear friends who welcomed her home.

She leaves behind a legacy of deep love through her daughter, Amanda Sorton; her cherished grandchildren, Aaliyah Neukirch and Caleb Covaleski; her sister, Deborah McEwen; her nieces and nephews, Traci Hayes, Sean Daniels Sr., Stacy Daniels, and Jenny Todd; her great-nieces and great-nephew, Nicole Hamilton, Sky Coleman and Sean Daniels Jr.; and her great-great-nephew and great-great-niece, Wyatt Coleman and Paisley Daniels.
