Pamela Richards Williams
May 21, 1943 - June 16, 2025.
Pamela Richards Williams, age 82, passed away at home with her family by her side.
She is survived by her daughter, Heather Keane Williams-Thomas, grandson Hudson, and brother John Richards.
She was predeceased by her parents, Jack and Mary Richards, her older daughter Mary Brooke Williams, and her former husband Lovett Williams.
Pam grew up in Palos Park, Illinois. She graduated from Wayland Academy in Beaver Dam, Wisconsin, Stephens College in Columbia, Missouri, and from Bradley University in Peoria, Illinois, majoring in Early Childhood Education.
Pam loved horses and travelled the Midwest Circuit, winning many blue ribbons in five-gaited dressage.
She married Lovett and moved to Florida in 1967. Teaching for many years in local elementary schools, where she was loved by her young students, who fondly called her “Miss Pam”. During those years, she and Lovett built her their renowned “Florida cracker” house where her children were raised. While not caring for their many animals and gardens, she loved to go hunting and fishing in the Gulf of Mexico.
Pam was active in many organizations, such as the Junior League and Gainesville Garden Club.
She supported local musicians and will always be remembered for “Pam’s Jam”, the night-before-New Year’s Eve party, a Gainesville tradition.
After retiring from teaching and selling the “Cracker”farm, she moved to Turkey Creek Forest in 2020.
Pam was beloved by many people; they were drawn to her warmth, kindness, and great sense of humor.
Eighteen years ago, she brought together a group of friends called “Like-Minded Women”, which would meet monthly in friendship and support.
She will be greatly missed by all who knew her.
