Patricia Joanne Marsee

Patricia JoAnne “Patsy” Mills Marsee died April 21, 2024 in hospice care in Ocala, Florida. Patsy was born October 11, 1957 in Ocala, the daughter of Marvin Anson and Sarah Ratliff Mills. She joined two older brothers: Marvin A. Jr “Buddy” and James Allan “Jim”. She attended East Marion School, Ft. King Middle School, and graduated from Vanguard High School in 1975. She received a B.S. in Mathematics Education from the University of Florida, a Master’s of Divinity from Southern Seminary in Louisville, KY, and a Master’s in Library Science from Florida State University. Patsy married her beloved husband, Darryl Marsee on July 10, 1993. He preceded her in death in 2021. Patsy began her lifelong love affair with libraries as a page (shelver) while still in school. She briefly taught middle school math, then returned to the Marion County Library, beginning as a librarian and working her way up to branch library supervisor, division manager, and finally assistant director of the Marion County library system. After 36 years with the library she retired October 29, 2021. She is predeceased by her parents, and her brother Buddy. She is survived by her brother Jim Mills and his wife Linda, of Tallahassee, and many cousins. Following cremation, Patsy’s ashes, along with her husband Darryl’s, will be interred in the John Conner Graham Cemetery in Conner, Florida. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Marion County or Friends of the Ocala Pubic Library.
