Ocala

Philip William Bondank, 80, passed away peacefully at home surrounded by family on January 23, 2022. He was born February 3, 1941, in Faribault, Minnesota to Benjamin Anthony Bondank and Hazel Mary Torgerson, both of whom preceded him in death.  He is survived by his loving wife, Teula Lee Perkins Bondank; children, Aurelie Bickler (Bobby), Steve Forrest, Jr. (Denise), Bill Bondank, Ben Bondank (Julie), and Teecy Matthews (Tom); 14 grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren; and Heide Bondank Roberts.
He and his wife celebrated 52 years of marriage.  He was a member of Queen of Peace Catholic Church.  He grew up in Kenosha Wisconsin and moved to Gulfport, Florida with his parents his junior year in high school.  Phil was a general manager for Morrison's Cafeteria for 30 years before retirement.  His love for people became known by his invitation, to have a seat at the round table.  He was a proud Seminole, graduating with a Bachelors in Science in Hotel and Restaurant Management.  He attended FSU on a baseball scholarship, and belongs to Theta Chi for eternity.  He became a Silver Chief Booster on his 70th birthday and belonged to the FSU Varsity Club.
Phil was a member of the Knights of Columbus, Ocala.  He served as one of the first Marion County Sheriff's Office funeral escorts and participated in the adoration chapel at his home church.  He was a family man who enjoyed watching football with his sons,  camping in his motorhome, and had many adventures living his summers in the midwest.  He loved having a family and friends up to visit in his Minnesota home.
His 14 grandchildren stole his heart.  He was always attending band concerts, dance recitals, piano and drum recitals and giving some of his wisdom to them.
Phil retired at age 52 and spent the rest of his years enjoying life's work with his wife, family, grandchildren and his great grands.
Phil was surrounded by all five of his children and all of his grandchildren on the last day.  Ever the jokester and happy man, he chatted with each of them as best he could.  He was loved most be Teula Lee Perkins Bondank his wife:  his children Aurelie Bickler, Bobby, Steve Forrest Jr, Denise, Bill Bondank, Ben Bondank, Julie, Teecy Matthews, Tom; his  grandchildren Jen Tigay, Britney Kendziora, Vinnie,  Ashley Lawton, Miranda Wright, Alex, Caitlin Bondank, Alex, Noelle Davis, Dannion,  Hannah Bickler, Connor, Thomas Matthews, Blake Bondank, Hannah, Philip Matthews, Taryn, Tulee Matthews, Giohandri, Shelby Bickler, Chrissy Ferguson, Jesse Ferguson, Nina; his precious great-grandson's Cohen and Kai and Charlie.  His cousins Audrey Nelson, Leighton Nelson, Barbara, Janelle Nelson; sister-in-law Susan Nye, Ben and dear friends of the family Shannon and Larry Kampa, Terry and David Beard, Angie Bland, Sarah Hughs and 13 nieces and nephews.
