Richard Thomas Escobar, 77, passed away peacefully at his home in Ocala, Florida, on Tuesday, April 21, 2026, surrounded by his family.

Born on Wednesday, July 14, 1948, in Sunnyside, Washington, Richard was the son of Juanita Lara Franco Escobar and Teodore Montez Escobar. After graduating from Granger High School in 1967, Richard honorably served his country in the United States Army from 1967 to 1970.

Upon returning to civilian life, Richard pursued a career in healthcare. He attended University of Colorado at Boulder, becoming a Registered Respiratory Therapist in 1974. His professional journey took him across the country, serving at Seattle General Hospital, Harborview Medical Center, and the head of pulmonary at Munroe Medical Center. Later becoming an entrepreneur, investing his time with, FM & Associates, RoTech Medical, and R & K Leasing. He later shared his expertise through Pulmonary Services Consultants and various medical equipment firms.

On April 20, 1974, Richard married Kathy Sue Stuart at Blessed Trinity Catholic Church in Ocala. Their 52-year marriage was the foundation of a vibrant family life. Richard was an avid golfer and a passionate traveler who loved adventure. He was also deeply committed to his community, serving through the Ocala Jaycees, Lions Club International, VOSH Southeast, and Love INC of Heart of Florida.

Richard is survived by his beloved wife, Kathy Escobar; his children, Andrew Stuart Franco Escobar (Ashley) and Dana Marie Escobar Parker (Richard); and his four cherished grandchildren: Zachary Thomas Parker, Carolyn Rae Parker, Andrew Mason Escobar, and Scarlett Khloè Ann Escobar.He is also survived by his siblings, Frances Koukoulis, Theodore Escobar, Juanita (Thomas) Dabalos, Robert (Vicki) Escobar, and David (Vicki) Escobar. 

He was preceded in death by his parents and his sisters, Della Escobar and Theresa Martinez.

Service Information:

Funeral Services will be held on Thursday, April 30, 2026, at 4:00 PM at Good News Church of Ocala (5600 SE 24th St, Ocala, FL).

A viewing will be held one hour prior to the service at the church. The family will greet guests following the service during the reception.

Countryside Funeral Home has been entrusted with the final arrangements.
