Robert "Bobby" Lee Randall

Robert Lee Randall, "Bobby", age 92, of Silver Springs, Florida, passed away on May 22, 2025. He was born on August 26, 1932, in Ocala, Florida to the late Oliver and Essie Randall of Lynne, Florida.

He is preceded in death by his wife, Shirley S. Martin Randall, his brother Colin Randall, and his sister Elinor Randall.

He leaves behind to cherish his memory; brother, Otis Randall; his nieces Kelly Wilson (Lewis); Vonda Brown (Bruce); Vickie Wright (Duane); his nephews Kevin Randall, Chris Randall (Vicki); Tommy Randall (Kit); David Nicholson (Amy) and Gary Nicholson.

When Bobby was 12 years old, he heard they were filming a movie near his home called "The Yearling" in the Ocala National Forest. They were looking for a stunt double for the young boy starring in the movie, Claude Jarman Jr. Claude was a skinny, blonde blue-eyed boy and so was Bobby. There were numerous boys trying out for the part but Bobby got the job. He was thrilled to be working on a movie set but had no idea how many times he would have to run and jump over the logs with the fawn and stand still for hours at a time. In 2021, Claude Jarman Jr. returned to Marion County to view a documentary about the making of the film. He and Bobby reunited and had a great time reminiscing about their time together on the film.

Bobby graduated from Ocala High School in 1950. He went on the serve in the U.S. Air Force during the Korean War in the 31st Field Maintenance Squadron from 1952 to 1956. He then went on to work for the Ocala National Forest Service for a short time before working for the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers for 30 years as a Core Drill Operator.

Bobby enjoyed spending time with his family and friends. He had a wonderful sense of humor and will be greatly missed.

A funeral service is scheduled to take place on Friday, May 30, 2025. There will be a viewing at 9:30 and the funeral will begin at 10:00 A.M. at Countryside Funeral Home with Interment to follow at Waldena Cemetery.
