AUDI, Ronald Dominic
Ocala - Ronald Dominic Audi, 83, passed away on January 23, 2021 due to complications with
Covid-19.
Ron was a legend and it’s impossible to fit his amazing life into a few paragraphs. So while this
is a brief tribute to Ron Audi, an amazing husband, beloved father, grandfather, uncle and
friend; let it be known that his unique and beautiful life was so much more.
Because Ron lived - fast. As anyone who’s ever ridden in a car or played a game of cards with
him can attest. Nothing got in his way as he paved a path of success and happiness for his
children and grandchildren.
Born in Litchfield, Illinois to Dominic and Florence Audi, he served in the United States Navy
and was a graduate of both the University of Illinois and Michigan Tech.
Ron married the love of his life, Margaret Grehn, and moved to Burlington, VT, where they were
often seen holding hands as they raised their daughter and three sons. Ron and Marge shared a
love of God, family and dancing, taking a spin about the room on a moment’s notice; music not
required.
Life with Ron was an adventure, where the rules were meant to be bent. Whether it was
climbing in the quarry next to his house, flying his 4-seater plane or hitting some balls; spending
time with him meant fun, and more than likely, a little mischief.
One look at his tan lines told you he was an avid golfer. According to Ron, he golfed “any day
that ended in a ‘y’”, and when he wasn’t playing, you’d likely find him watching it too loudly on
TV, half asleep, hat over his eyes. He shot 7+ hole-in-ones and won many tournaments
including the VT Senior Amateaur Championship in 1994 and 2000.
Ron was filled with light and love. He was friendly to all those he met. It wasn’t uncommon to
find him chatting up a perfect stranger like they were an old friend, or conversely, have him run
into an old friend in the most unlikely of places.
He was a mechanical engineer for IBM, President of the Vermont Golf Association and a board
member of the Marion County Golf Association. He coached hockey and golf. In winter, he and
his family spent time skiing and skating on the pond next to their house. In summer, cliff
jumping in the mountain springs and hitting the greens. Known affectionately as “Gramps” or
“Grampie” he was always ready to make “smore” for his kids and grandkids as breakfast, lunch
or dinner. He loved tuna fish on crackers with pickles and chocolate milk. He loved polenta, the
family’s traditional Italian meal and always made sure the kids got wine just like the adults at
Sunday dinner. More recently, he loved facetiming with his great-grandson and helped fill his
first year with more love than his parents thought possible.
Ron loved his family.
And they loved him.
He was their heart and soul. Most of their happy memories, favorite foods, funny phrases and
beloved pastimes are thanks to him and they will pass those down to future generations in his
memory (more than likely over a game of pitch).
He is preceded in death by his parents, Dominic and Florence Audi and sisters, Doloris Chrisos
and Louise Smith.
He is survived by his loving wife, Margaret; daughter, Michelle (husband Kyle); sons, Anthony
(wife Sarah), Edward and Christopher; grandchildren, Jaclyn (husband Prescott), Jennifer
(husband Chris), Rebecca, Nathan and Lauren; and great-grandson, Deckard.

A virtual funeral service will be held Saturday, January 30th at 12:30PM, followed by virtual
visiting hours with his family on Sunday, January 31st at 11AM. For more service information or
