Stephen Charles Lightbody

Stephen Charles Lightbody was welcomed into the arms of his loving Savior on April 6, 2026, at the age of 74.

He was preceded in death by his parents, James Finley Lightbody, Helen Carolyn Bacchus Lightbody, and his brother, James Finley “Duke” Lightbody, Jr.

Steve is survived by his wife, Barbara Lightbody; his children, Jodie Armstrong (John), Casey Crysler (Brandon), Krista Bennett (Wayne), and Stephen Lightbody; his grandchildren, Christopher, Hudson, Sutton, Nash, Jackson, and Shiloh; and his brother, Thomas Lightbody (Susan).

Steve graduated from Florida State University in 1973. He began a career in Ocala as a drug abuse counselor and mentor to incarcerated youth. Steve later went on to work in the automotive sales industry, with many years working as a general manager of a local dealership. He spent the last 14 years working alongside his wife, Barbara, building a successful real estate business in The Villages. Steve’s natural gift to engage with others made him a trusted and familiar presence to many. People mattered, and he always took the time to make sure that they knew it; he was a great listener.

Steve enjoyed spending time with family and friends at FSU sporting events, listening to music and attending concerts, spending time on the water fishing, and playing guitar and golf. He had a particular passion for conversation and helping to bring out the best in others.

Steve’s legacy will live on through his family and all who had the privilege of knowing him.
