Virgil L Briggs, Jr., age 80, went to see Jesus on Monday, December 29, 2025 at 2 a.m. at the Villages Hospice Hospital in Florida.
He was born on July 18, 1945 in Ohio, son of Virgil, Sr. and Josephine Briggs. He is preceded in death by his parents, brothers; Bob and Jake, sisters; Phyllis and Penny.
He served in the Air Force. He had an HVAC company in Wooster, Ohio for 29 years. He loved fishing and hunting. He had a boat on Lake Erie named Betty Jo. He was married to Betty Jo ( Mathys) Briggs for 58 years. Virgil also played Country Music in Wooster (The Shelmar Opry) and in Florida on Friday afternoon Jam Session.
He leaves behind to cherish his memory; children, John Alan of Wooster, Ohio, Donna Mae Dougherty of Virginia, and Jake of California; nine grandchildren, John, Jr. (Elizabeth), Chad (Sarah), Jeremiah (Janae), Andrew Michael, Ruben, Simon, Emily and Abby; six great grandchildren, Daniel, Caleb, Alex, Ben, Charlotte and Odessa; and his brother, Lon (Ruth) Briggs.
Memorial Cremation Services will be held on March 7, 2026 at 11:00 A.M. at the Cowboy Church:
