Walter Jason Rose

November 17, 1962 — March 1, 2026

ROSE, WALTER JASON

Walter Jason Rose, 63, of Summerfield, went to be with his Lord and Savior Sun., March 1, following a life defined by hard work, fierce loyalty to family and friends, and sincere care for the people around him.

Born Nov. 17, 1962, in Norfolk, Va., to the late Daniel Parker Rose and Eva Lee Johnson Rose.

Early in his career, Walter worked at a large grocery store chain, where he served as both a department manager and butcher, developing a reputation for a strong work ethic. Later, Walter became a skilled electrician, spending many years with Stokes Electric before retiring from Amp Electric after several decades in the trade.

Walter was a devoted father and mentor to his children; his oldest son, Jason, proudly served in the U.S. Marine Corp., while his youngest son, Gregory joined him at Amp Electric, with Walter personally training him in the electrical trade. Last year, after taking an early retirement, Walter began working part-time for his daughter, Lindsey, at her family-owned business, Local Roots Nursery, in Okahumpka.

Never one to sit still, Walter took immense pride in working with his hands, solving problems, and passing along his knowledge. He especially loved the outdoors and enjoyed fishing, kayaking, practice shooting, and working on projects.

Born with a naturally curious mind, Walter was always interested in learning new things and figuring out how things worked. Those who knew him well also appreciated Walter’s quirky sense of humor and sly wit, which often appeared at just the right moment.

More than anything else though, Walter cherished spending time with his family and loved ones.

Walter is survived by his three children: daughter, Lindsey Rose (Josh) of Fruitland Park, and sons, Jason Rose (Mel) of North Carolina, and Gregory Rose of Summerfield; his lifelong partner, Vivian Cassaday; brothers: Daniel Rose (Angela) of Arizona, Joseph Rose (Theresa) and a sister, Leigh Ann Rose Saputo (Todd), both of Marion County; seven grandchildren, which brought him great joy; and three nieces: Melissa, Megan and Alexandra. Walter is also remembered by his former wife, Bonnie Turner Rose, and a stepdaughter, Crystal Terry McMillan.

Walter’s deep and abiding faith in Christ was woven into the way he lived his life. He showed it through kindness, humility and a servant’s heart towards others. While his family grieves his loss, they are comforted in knowing he is now at peace with the Lord.

A celebration of Walter’s life will take place at 2 p.m. Sat., March 14 at Countryside Funeral Home, 9185 NE 21st Ave., Anthony, Fl. Afterwards, the family will receive friends and loved ones at Bountiful Farms, 27314 County Road 33, Okahumpka, Fl.
