William “Chap” V. Chappell

With heavy hearts and profound sadness, we announce the passing of William V. Chappell, III, affectionately known as Chap, who departed this world on May 26, 2026. Chap passed away peacefully in Louisville, Georgia, surrounded by the love of family and friends. He was 69 years old.

Born on June 14, 1956, in Ocala, Florida, Chap was the son of the late William (Bill) and Marguerite Chappell. He was preceded in death by his beloved parents and his sister, Judy Chappell Gadd & nephew, Aaron Gadd.

Chap is survived by his sister, Deb Chappell Bond, and her husband Tommy, his brother Chris Chappell and his wife Joan, as well as many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and a great-great-nephew. Though he did not have children of his own, his extended family was a source of immense pride and joy, and he cherished each moment spent in their company.

Chap's journey in education began at Forest High School, from which he graduated in 1974. He then attended Oklahoma State University for a year, but returned to Ocala to start a business. This career path led him to become a building developer and he worked with contractors to help build neighborhoods of affordable housing. His connections led him to continue developing areas in Ocala, Orlando & St. Croix, V.I. Later in his life, he changed directions and became an agent for musicians, actors & entertainers, where he left an indelible mark on those he worked with. His dedication and creativity in these fields were not only a testament to his work ethic but also to his love for bringing joy and inspiration to others.

Music, art, sports cars, connecting people, fun and magic were the vibrant threads that wove through the tapestry of Chap's life. Sketching & drawing was one of his many talents & past time activities. His appreciation for art was profound, often spending hours immersed in its beauty. A sports car enthusiast, he relished the thrill of the road, and his love for sports was a testament to his spirited nature. He loved bringing people together & encouraging lots of fun for everyone! Magic, with its wonder and mystery, captured his imagination and was a source of endless delight. He was colorful, vibrant & fun-loving to the end. He will be missed & long remembered.

A service to celebrate Chap's remarkable life will be held on June 30, 2026, at 11:00 PM at Kendrick Cemetery, located on the corner of NW 32nd Ct. & NW 60th St, Kendrick, Florida. Family and friends are invited to gather in remembrance of a life well-lived.

In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to Florida School for the Deaf and Blind, 207 San Marco Ave., St. Augustine, Fl. 32084 or Interfaith Emergency Services of Ocala, P.O. Box 992, Ocala, Fl. 34478.

The family extends a warm invitation to all who knew and loved Chap to attend a Celebration of Life, which will be held at the Ocala Municipal Golf Club on June 26, 2026, from 3:00-5:00 PM. It promises to be an occasion filled with memories, laughter, and the spirit of a man who touched so many lives. Chap will be remembered for his generous spirit, his infectious smile, and the love he shared with those around him. He leaves behind a legacy of kindness, creativity, and joy that will be cherished by all who had the privilege of knowing him. May his soul rest in peace, embraced by the music and magic he cherished in life.
