Adolf Alfred "Al" Kunz

Adolf Alfred "Al" Kunz, age 86, passed away peacefully at home on Oct. 31, 2019. Born June 4, 1933, in Ft. McCoy to Otto and Anna Kunz.

Al graduated in 1951 from Ft. McCoy High School and attended the University of Florida. He proudly served in the United States Army. Al was inducted in the Marion County Agriculture Hall of Fame in October 2013. Al worked in the Citrus Industry for 41 years. Libby McNeal Libby for 17 years and Florida Farm Bureau Citrus Program for 24 years, promoting and selling Florida Citrus in 32 states. Al loved the land, and was a good steward of it. He was intrigued with all of God's creation. Al loved to travel, he was a storyteller and historian. He loved visiting with people and "never met a stranger".

Al was a member of the Anthony United Methodist Church, Kiwanis Club of Ocala, Tri County Sportsman's Club, Masonic Lodge #49, Board Member of Marion County Farm Bureau, Ocala Shrine Club, Marion County Board of Realtors, Marion Co. Ag Hall of Fame, Mature Mentors (Older Citrus Growers), Marion Co. Cattleman's Association, Forestry Association, Ft. McCoy School Advisory Council (25 years), Ft. McCoy Civic Association.

Al is preceded in death by his parents and son, Allan Douglas Kunz. He is survived by his loving wife, Joyce Hall Kunz; son Karl W. Kunz (Tammy); daughter, Julie Kunz Ray (Ross), sister, Lucy Ann Stegall, ten grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren and many nieces and nephews.

A celebration of his life will be held at 11:00 a.m., Saturday, November 16, 2019, at the Central Christian Church, 3010 NE 14th St. Ocala, FL. Visitation will be from 5:00 - 7:00 p.m., Friday, November 15, 2019, at Anthony United Methodist Church. Interment will follow the service in the Fort McCoy Cemetery, Fort McCoy, FL. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to Hospice of Marion County, and the Anthony United Methodist Church. Arrangements are under the care of Countryside Funeral Home, Anthony, FL.
