Dr. Julia Capewell

Dr. Julia Porcher Wickham Porter Flannagan Capewell died on Sunday, April 3 in Ocala, Florida after a brief illness.  Julia was born on December 30, 1963 in Charlottesville, VA, the daughter of the late Dr. Roy C. Flannagan, Jr. and Julia Porcher Wickham Porter Stallings of Carbondale, IL.

Julia attended Southern Illinois University in Carbondale, IL where she earned a doctorate in adult education.  She worked as an academic mentor and counselor at the university level, as well as a mental health consultant and co-responder.  She enjoyed riding bicycles, as well as participating in martial arts.  She was an avid reader, and enjoyed watching all types of movies.  When possible, she also worked on film sets with a group of film-makers in Carbondale.

In addition to her mother, Julia is survived by her husband, Ralph “Bill” Capewell of Ocala, FL, her brother Roy C. Flannagan III (Beckie) of Florence, SC, her half-sister Elisabeth (Greg) Sharpe of Virginia, her nephew Wickham Flannagan (Alev) of Ankara, Turkey, one great nephew, Atlas Flannagan also of Ankara, and two step-daughters, Erin M. Crain and Morgan E. Huggins, both of Florida. A memorial service will be held at a later date in Florence, SC.
