John Ross

John Louis Ross, 78, of Ocala, FL formerly of HIghland, NY passed peacefully on Saturday, March 6, 2021. John was born on November 24, 1942 to John Alexander Ross and Louise Grennie.  Mr. Ross is predeceased by his parents,  his loving wife of 53 years Joyce, his daughter Tracey Rebentisch and his step-brother Richard Grennie.

John is survived by his beloved daughters Bobette Ross of Ocala, FL, Allison (Angel) Chua and her husband David Chua, Darlene Rodschat,  his brother Frank Grennie and his wife Grace Amemiya, and his sister Rose Martin, as well as many godchildren, nephews, nieces and beloved cousins.

Mr. Ross (Lance Corporal) served in the United States Marine Corps from 1960-1964.

John was a systems analyst for IBM for 25 years from which he retired before moving to FL in 1991.He became a special education teacher in the Marion County Schools and retired also from teaching after 13 years.

He loved his family, and left behind his eight adoring grandchildren, Marco (Ross), Kian an, Ross,  Aden (Chua), Nicholas, Christopher,  Elizabeth (Rodschat) and John (Rebentisch). He enjoyed telling them stories about his childhood, singing and making them laugh. He loved Bob Dylan, reading, and his precious dogs, Mahoney and Snuggles, doing crossword puzzles and spending time with his family.  Famous for his teasing and joking, he was well loved by all.

A small family gathering will be held at his home on Saturday 4/3 followed with A Celebration of his Life in July 2021 in Batavia, NY at his daughter Allison’s home.
