Citra - Lee William Medema, 78, passed away December 23, 2021. He was born April 14, 1943, in Muskegon, MI, to the late Honer and Helen Medema. He retired from City of Midland as a Police officer for 15 years and Firefighter for 8 years.
He is preceded in death by his parents; daughter Alicia Medema; and sister Diane Medema Roelfs.
He is survived by his loving wife, Karen Tochman Sims Medema; son Steven Medema (April); daughter, Stacy Hill (Doug); brother, Greg Medema (Rita); and sister Donna Neimi (Wayne deceased).
A Celebration of life will be held at 10:30 am, Saturday, January 8, 2022 at the Citra United Methodist Church, Citra, Fl with Reverend Ronald McCreary officiating.
Lee's grandchildren: Lyndsay and Nate Schweers, Madison Hill and Ryan Stevens, Baleigh Hill, Javan Medema, Hannah and Kole Thurlow
Karen's children and grandchildren and great-grandchildren all loved Lee as a Father and Grandfather. Children: Beth Ann (deceased) and Ivan LaFountain, Kathy and Mike Borden, Tommy (deceased) and Julya Sims.  Grandchildren: Doug LaFountain, Kyle and Erica LaFountain,  Brian and Taylor LaFountain, Jeffrey and Caitlyn LaFountain, JR Haynes, Nikki Bergdoll and Luke Sims. Great grandchildren: Jessica Hickman,  Kaia Hickman, Hoyt LaFountain, Parker LaFountain, Lily LaFountain,  Landon LaFountain and Amelia LaFountain.
Lee was born in Muskegon, MI. He retired from the City of Midland as a Police officer and Firefighter after 23 years. Lee was also a building contractor who built many houses beginning when he moved to Midland in 1967 and built the first house. Lee built playhouses for the Habitat for Humanity as a fundraiser.  Lee has been an avid golfer for many years. Lee enjoyed helping with renovations on his wife Karen’s home and at the Citra 1st United Methodist Church over the years since they married.  Lee enjoyed hearing about his kids and grandkids' lives. The family asks that if you are to attend, you please wear a mask so that we are able to keep everyone as safe as possible. Donations may be made to Citra 1st United Methodist Church.
