Laurel R. (Byrne) Prosoco and John S. Prosoco

Funeral Director & Preened Agent / Crematory Manager - Associate

I was born in Gainesville and grew up in Ocala, Florida, living around the corner from a funeral home nearly all my childhood.  I attended Blessed Trinity and Trinity Catholic where we are current parishioner’s today. Our three beautiful children now attend Blessed Trinity as well. I married John, who was my high school sweetheart and was born and raised in Ocala. Not long after he served our Country with the United States Army and toured in Afghanistan for a year. During that time I attended school at St. Petersburg College of Mortuary Science and worked at my our Funeral Home.  After obtaining my degree as a Funeral Director and Embalmer, we returned to Ocala from the military and became full-time together at Countryside with our family.

As my dad always taught us, the business we are in is about a ministry and serving each and every family as though they are our own. It is not about sales, luncheons and providing something a family does not want. We are in this industry because we are able  to facilitate what most of the public cannot bear when a loved one has passed away. We are there to commemorate them and create a final resting place and lasting tribute of each individual.

When John and I are not at the funeral home, we are spending time with our three beautiful children, Emily, John and Everett. Emily is involved in the Marion Ballet Theatre where she has danced in the Civic theatre’s Nutcracker Ballet and Spring Shows for the last five years. You may even find Laurel as a Dancing Parent in the Nutcracker if you look close enough! They also enjoy being with their boys on the Baseball field at Ocala Rotary, watching the Florida Gators, and spending time in the Mountains.

Kelsey Bea (Byrne) Jackson & Jonathan Steele Jackson

Funeral Director & Embalmer / Associate

Having lived in Ocala nearly all my life, I attended Blessed Trinity Elementary and Middle School before graduating from Trinity Catholic High School in 2010. It was during that time my father left Hiers Funeral Home after the company sold and became corporate to start his own firm, in efforts to bring affordable and passionate care back to the community. I worked with my father during my first year of college before moving to Tallahassee to earn my general education associates degree. I found myself missing working along side my family and the wonderful families we had the privilege to serve. Before going to mortuary school I met my husband who lived in Fort Lauderdale. We decided to move too Ocala to start a life together. We now have two young daughters, Isla Bea and Winnie Mae.

Steele was born in Plantation, FL. He worked as a Firefighter/Paramedic for nearly 10 years for both Alachua and Marion County Fire Rescue. He graduated from Broward College as a Paramedic and Coral Springs Fire acadamy. He helps in all facets of the company from operating the crematory, being on call to take people into our care and working funerals. He is beginning the process to become a Funeral Director as well.

In our spare time we enjoy day trips to Ormond Beach with our daughters or traveling to foreign countries to experience all the beautiful cultures our world has to offer.
